No, there is not a water problem in Whitefield, Bangalore as the government is supplying Cauvery Water. It is a Cauvery Water Supply Scheme’s 5th phase, which will supply 775mn Liters of water to the outskirts of the city. These outskirts will also include Whitefield, offering drinkable water to the people living in the area. It is one of the top IT hubs located in the eastern part and has a huge population residing here.
Earlier, the locality was facing a huge water crisis, but the government has brought certain schemes to avoid the crisis. In the locality a large number of tankers were giving water from Hoskote. This crisis will go down after some time. The area, being one of the most densely crowded regions, suffers more issues. Its water demand is increasing rapidly as the population is increasing.
To reach Kempegowda airport, commuters can take buses, metro, or local cabs. These are priced fairly and help people to reach their destination on time. Whitefield's road network is smooth, and their flyovers control the traffic. The time and mode of transit to reach the airport are:
1. Water Scarcity - Whitefield has struggled with water shortage for years. The problem now lasts all year. The area gets limited Cauvery water and depends mostly on water tankers.
2. Groundwater Depletion - The groundwater in the area is going down rapidly. This has become a major cause of the water crisis. People are spending more than Rs 10000 to buy water cans and from tankers.
3. Borewells - Excessive digging of borewells has worsened the water issue. Private agencies run multiple borewells, pumping water all day to fill tankers.
4. Tanker Water - The tanker operators have drawn excessive water from the sources. This has led to the depletion of water in certain areas. Many villages close to Bangalore have agitated against these tanker owners to stop drawing excess water.
5. Industries - The industries in the area use excessive water to work and produce materials. They also leave waste products in the rivers on a large scale.
The area also sees huge infrastructure development as many roads, malls, and housing projects are being developed. These are built by top builders like Prestige Group. These builders take care of using water in a limited way to save it. These also cause less water population and develop townships that conserve water. A new project, Prestige Raintree Park, is developed in the area that is built to save nature. It has a rainwater harvesting unit and also other eco-friendly units.
